School Supplies Drive

The church has always been a great sponsor of our public schools.  Beginning more than twenty years ago, the women of the church began making hats, mittens, and scarves for the schools to hand out to students who needed them.  As the crafters became fewer and fewer, the Missions Committee began collecting supplies to augment the classrooms and students in need.  The list of supplies consisted of notebooks, lined paper, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, rulers, and cap erasures. Some of our members made fully stocked backpacks for the truly needy students.

Teachers were not forgotten either; Boxes of tissues, Clorox Wipes, erasable markers, and paper towels were all gratefully accepted.  A special Angel of our 7/8 special education program has given a monetary donation each year to do something for the kids.  These donations have allowed us over the years to take the students to a restaurant and order from a menu, pay for their meals, and use a credit card.  They have also been given the opportunity to visit a grocery store,to purchase ingredients for a meal planned by them which they cooked and presented to their astonished parents.  None of this would have been possible without this continued support.

The Missions Committee has done a spectacular job spear-heading this project but with the support of our loving and giving congregation.
